    Description

Offered is the Longines Symphonette International Pathfinder 8000 AM/FM/Shortwave Radio.  This is a solid state transistor model 8713/2.  The back of the case has Japan 713 stamped into the case battery door. This is an 8-Band Portable Radio from 1978.  The radio is in fair condition.  It is clean, with some dust and grime from heavy use.  The chrome is in good overall shape, with a little pitting on the handle brackets and some knicks and scratches here and there.  The front shows wear near the knobs.  Most of the printed graphics are in good condition-visible in the photos. The front lid opens properly and it is in good condition.  The radio dial is in good condition and it is clean.  There is some duct tape over the FM pushbutton. The pushbuttons themselves are in good condition. They operate freely, but they do not "click" into position (they may or may not be designed to do so). Small Jacks for External Antenna, an Earphone and 9-Volt adapter are on the side. Bands are marked as follows:  AM, MB, SW1, SW2, SW3, PBL, FM and PBH. The tuning dial works.  Tested briefly with a 9-volt battery, the radio powers up and produces static on several bands as well as pops and noises when the bandswitches are pressed. The dial light works. The straight telescoping antenna is very long, it is in good condition-the tiny end piece is a little bent, but it is not severe and it goes up and down properly. The swiveling antenna is missing-the stub is visible in the photos. Battery compartment is a little cruddy and the battery springs have rusted.  (3) loose screws from within are included.  14 X 10 X 5 1/4 inches in size.  About 13 pounds packed up.  Pick up the multiband radio for a nice restoration project or for its parts.  The radio is offered "as is" due to age.  NO RESERVE!! Thanks for looking.
