    Description

I purchased this directly from Chuck Rippel. This Superadio 2 is an amazing performer. The upgrades are VERY noticeable with a side-by-side comparison of a stock, un-modified Superadio 2.
If you're an AM DXer, this is the one you want.
(I'm only selling because I have two of these, plus an original Superadio 1.)
This radio sounds great, performs wonderfully, and will provide you with years of excellent service.
A summary of the upgrades is listed below:
All the stock, now dried out electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with premium, long lasting, audio grade Panasonic and Nichicon components, all with uprated voltage and 105C temperature ratings.
Tuning capacitor vanes have been cleaned and the ground return for the rotor (a source of static during tuning) cleaned and lubricated with silicone dielectric compound.
Replaced the stock, excessively wide bandwidth IF filter in the FM section with a quality MURATA filter selected to significantly improve selectivity while minimally impacting the superb fidelity of the Super Radio.
The volume control is perhaps the most adjusted single control on any piece of audio equipment.  They are subject to wear and dirt, often becoming noisy, causing static and distortion when adjusted.   In this case, as a preventive measure, the control was removed, disassembled and the working surfaces carefully cleaned then lightly lubricated with silicone dielectric compound.  The control re-assembled and installed back into the radio.
A small detail, internally, the various wiring bundles are held together with paper coated steel wire, "twist ties," not unlike found on the package of a loaf of bread.  In time, the paper falls away leaving exposed bare wire near internal electronics.  These have been replaced with miniature, plastic tie wraps.
Finally, the IF and RF sections of both the AM and FM sections were aligned per the factory instructions using quality, HP test equipment.  Interesting, this radio will tune up to 1650 in the AM expanded band.
