1940s Scarf Mannequin Point of Sale Victory Insignia by Beau Brummell Very Rare
We are pleased to offer a very rare
original 1940's Beau Brummell point of sale mannequin head display for the
showing and sales of "Victory Insignia Scarves" that were sold during World War II
to show support for those fighting in the war as well as those at home supporting the
    war effort.
Beau Brummel was an early fashion designer in the 19th Century setting the standards
for men's clothing. He was considered a high fashion icon producing a range of designs
for the men of this period.
His company continued on into the 20th Century where the focus was men's ties and during WWII produced the line of " Victory Insignia Scarves " in support of the war effort. He was hugely successful. During the
    1960's
    Ralph Lauren
worked as a designer for the Beau Brummell company giving him his start in the fashion industry.
Beau Brummel's success eventually lead to his early demise due to his excessive living, he died at age, 61.
The scarves were in a variety of designs with the majority reflecting the four branches of military service.
The scarves became a popular item during the war years for women as most women were replacing men in industrial jobs where it was a matter of safety to keep one's hair tidy and out of the way.
