Here's a beautiful and unusual Bristol Model D radio, manufactured in Waterbury, CT in the early 1920's.
Housed in a lidded, solid wood cabinet, with a polished bakelite panel from which 4 tipped tubes protrude, the radio was clearly built to impress, but it sold for almost 0 when it was introduced in 1924 -- an insane amount of money at the time (a Model T Ford sold for about 0 that year, and you could buy a new house for ,000). So there wasn't exactly a stampede to buy them, and the radio was pulled from production in just a few months.
Condition of the radio is excellent, as you can see in the photographs.
The radio’s chassis is clean and correct, with straight original wiring, an unstained, tightly wound tuner, and original AF transformers (both test open). The radio’s panel has a mirror-like surface, and exhibits no scratches, no cracks, no filled holes, no issues.
The cabinet finish is original and in good condition, and the original Bristol decal on the underside of the lid is also original, and its condition is close to perfect. The original lock and key are still working.
The radio comes with 4 brass base, tipped display tubes.
With the lid closed, the radio measures approximately 15" x 14" x 10".  Shipping weight, properly packed, will be approximately 40 lb.
Please see my other listings for a matching Bristol Audiophone Senior Horn speaker, with which the radio was typically sold when new in 1924.
This auction is for the radio only. The speaker is being sold separately.
That's about it. I will package everything properly so that it arrives at your doorstep safely. I have been shipping antique phonographs and radios for years, and if you check my feedback, you'll see that I know how to do it correctly.  Buyer prepays and includes shipping.
